Case Study - TeleData delivers remote access solution for new offshore staffing operations for Top 3 ERP Software vendor.
Customer
Client provides enterprise software and service solutions in the manufacturing, distribution, maintenance, and service industries. Over 4,000 customers use our software throughout the world.
Over the past four decades, our client has expanded their business from the United States into more than 40 countries, and now employs more than 4,200 people globally.
Statement of Problem
After undergoing a significant merger with another large software company, our client was expanding operations into the Philippines. Compounding the problem, it was a requirement to provide access from operations in England, Sweden, Germany and Denmark as well.
The new environment was required to provide development and support resources for 6 key functional areas. A total of 65 applications with segregated runtime environments allowing developers and support staff to work side by side were required.
TeleData’s Solution
TeleData understood the path both groups wanted to take but with both parties speaking different languages, and providing different technical direction, TeleData had to both translate and provide a framework for negotiations. Making IT the central decision point, created a better platform for development and support to plan their deliverable. Eliminating scope creep and providing a re-useable framework for this solution was a key first step.
One of the business unit’s key complaints was that different development operations in separate countries did not have a uniform set of development tools and standard software suites. With so many different products and initiatives TeleData did an analysis to find out what the essential software and tools were and why.
Using a combination of Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 and an automated deployment methodology, TeleData was able to provide a mobile solution. This kept operations primarily at the corporate offices, but allowed client the flexibility of restoring functions to other offices around the world within an hour.
Results
Despite high latency on communications lines to their offices in the Philippines, our client is successfully delivering applications, data, email services, and disparate development environments to more than 400 employees in a variety of business units. Reaching an acceptable level of application performance many of the 4,200 employees are now able to collaborate on virtually any project, anywhere using this Citrix solution.
